AUGUSTA, Ga. York News-Times General Manager Greg Awtry has been named publisher for the Morris-owned daily newspaper in Nebraska. The announcement was made by William S. Morris IV, Morris Publishing Group president and chief executive officer, and is effective immediately.
Awtry was named general manager in September 2004, after having served as advertising director for the newspaper. Prior to working for Morris, Awtry spent five years as sales director for Security First Bank in Nebraska and South Dakota. Prior to that, Awtry spent 21 years in retail sales, management and store ownership with Wohl Shoe Company and Cozard Bootery.
"During his time as general manager, Greg has demonstrated solid leadership and unwavering loyalty for the York News-Times and its readers," Morris said. "He has a strong vision for the future of the newspaper and the skills necessary to make that vision a reality."
