AUGUSTA, Ga. Armand M. Nardi has been named publisher of the News Chief in Winter Haven, Fla. The announcement was made today by William S. Morris IV, president and CEO of Morris Publishing Group, and is effective immediately.
"Armand has extensive experience in the newspaper publishing business and a great record of community involvement," Morris said. "He will be a great fit for the News Chief and the Winter Haven community."
Nardi has 16 years of experience in the newspaper industry, most recently serving as the regional advertising director in Lynchburg, Va., for Media General. Previously, he was the general manager for niche publications at Media General and then became general manager of the Pennsylvania Newspaper Group for Chesapeake Publishing Corporation. Nardi began his career as an advertising sales representative at The Maryland Independent in Waldorf, Md.
Nardi earned a bachelor's degree in mass communications/journalism and marketing from Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pa.
Carl N. Cannon, executive vice president of Morris in charge of the Florida newspapers, said: "Armand's community leadership will be invaluable to the Winter Haven area and the News Chief. He understands the importance of our communities and will build on our strong relationship with our readers."
Robin L. Quillon, who has served as publisher of the News Chief since June 2005, has become the special projects director at The Florida Times-Union.
