GLOBE PEQUOT PRESS TO ACQUIRE FALCON PUBLISHING, INC.

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Morris Communications has announced that its book publishing company, the Globe Pequot Press, has entered into an agreement with Landmark Communications Corporation to acquire all of the assets of Falcon Publishing, Inc.

With headquarters in Helena, Montana, Falcon Publishing is primarily known for its FalconGuides, a popular series of outdoor travel guidebooks; the Chockstone rock climbing guides; and the Insiders' Guides, a respected line of travel guides to US cities and regions. In recent years, the company has expanded with the TwoDot, ThreeForks, and Skyhouse imprints, offering books on regional history, nature, cooking, conservation and eco-travel. Founded in 1979 with the publication of two books, Falcon and its imprints now represent more than 800 titles.

The Globe Pequot Press is a publisher and distributor of travel and outdoor recreation books, providing comprehensive, travel-related information for locations all over the world. The company publishes and distributes approximately 500 new titles annually and currently offers more than 2,000 travel, sports, and recreation guides.

Globe Pequot is also the owner of the Cadogan Guides of London, and maintains co-publishing relationships with the Bradt Travel Guides, Alastair Sawday Publishing, and Thomas Cook Publishing, all based in the UK. In addition, it includes among its distinguished distribution clients Appalachian Mountain Club Books, Berlitz Publishing, Interstate, Menasha Ridge Press, Virgin Travel Guides, Ulysses Travel Guides, Beacon Books, Everyman Chess, and the Globetrotter Guides.
