MORRIS TO SELL FOUR DAILY NEWSPAPERS

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Morris Communications Corp. has put four properties in its community newspaper division on the market. The announcement was made today by President William S. Morris IV.

The newspapers up for sale are The Newton (Kan.) Kansan; The Examiner, Blue Springs, Mo.; The Examiner, Independence, Mo.; and The Oak Ridger, Oak Ridge, Tenn. The four newspapers have a combined daily circulation of 31,000. Town & Country News, a weekly shopper publication in Oak Grove, Mo., is also included.

"These are solid, well-performing products which no longer serve the long-term strategic goals of our company," said Morris. "We review our strategy periodically and make certain business decisions as a result of that assessment."

Morris Communications is a privately held media company with diversified holdings that include newspaper and magazine publishing, outdoor advertising, radio broadcasting, book publishing and distribution, and computer services. For more information see the company's Web site at www.morris.com.
