TO SELL FOUR DAILY NEWSPAPERS
AUGUSTA,
Ga. - Morris Communications Corp. has put four properties
in its community newspaper division on the market. The announcement
was made today by President William S. Morris IV.
The newspapers up for sale are
The Newton (Kan.) Kansan; The Examiner,
Blue Springs, Mo.; The Examiner, Independence, Mo.; and
The Oak Ridger, Oak Ridge, Tenn. The four newspapers
have a combined daily circulation of 31,000. Town & Country
News, a weekly shopper publication in Oak Grove, Mo., is
also included.
"These are solid, well-performing
products which no longer serve the long-term strategic goals
of our company," said Morris. "We review our strategy periodically
and make certain business decisions as a result of that assessment."
