PHILLIPS
NAMED PUBLISHER OF THE NEWTON KANSAN
AUGUSTA,
Ga.David A. Phillips has been named to the publisher's
position of The Newton (Kan.) Kansan, effective
Aug. 25. The announcement was made today by William S. Morris
IV, president of the parent company. Phillips succeeds Douglas
J. Anstaett.
Since 1997, the same year he
joined Morris, Phillips has been circulation director of The
Augusta Chronicle. He came to Augusta from the circulation
director's position at the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American,
a Gannett-owned newspaper.
Over his 29-year newspaper career,
Phillips served in a variety of positions, including home delivery
manager of the Pensacola News Journal and state circulation
manager of the Arkansas Gazette.

said. "Dave Phillips will bring a wealth of experience and expertise
to the top spot in Newton."
