MORRIS NAMES DIRECTOR OF TECHNICAL
OPERATIONS
AUGUSTA,
Ga.—Jonathan E. Payne has been named director of technical
operations for the technology services division of Morris Communications.
The appointment was announced today by President William S.
Morris IV, and is effective immediately.
For
the past three years, Payne has been the director of information
technology for NutraSweet in Augusta, makers of the sugar substitute
aspartame, where he was responsible for all aspects of the company's
information technology environment. For the eight years prior
to that, Payne served in several management roles for the company.
"We
have several strategic initiatives under way in our technology
area," said Morris, "and we are fortunate to have
found a person of Jon's high level of expertise. We welcome
him to our team."
In his
new position, Payne is responsible for all technical operations
for Morris, including pre-press and publishing technology.

well prepared him for this challenging and important position
within our technical operations group," said Steven B.

Communications is a privately held media company with diversified
